Designer Shie Lyu was born in China and has been living and educated in different countries like Sydney, Tokyo, London and New York. Her work has been exhibited in Moma PS1 (New York), 247 showroom (paris) as well as freemasons’ hall  (London).

With designer’s mathematic way of thinking, there are meticulous constructions and textiles in Shie’s work as well as unusual materials like recycled rubbers, molded perspex and heat-shrink tubes. Shie applies traditional couture techniques to these recycled industrial materials and finally turns them into futuristic but exquisite styles.

Experimentation through the mixing of saturated colors and pursue the textile innovation is a large part of Shie’s process. There is also a sculptural approach to her design that is clearly identifiable in the architectural silhouette.

‘I’d like to call myself an engineer rather than a fashion designer’ Shie said.

Precise and futuristic elegance could be the best words to describe Shie’s work which interprets a fresh femininity in Shie’s way.

This collection explored how futuristic Elegance is made from traditional handicraft. Couture techniques are applied to recycled modern materials such as silicone tube, flawed sequins, heat-shrinking rubbers to achieve new futuristic-looking textiles and silhouettes. The outcome looks very high tech but in fact they are all low tech: made by hands and needles.
Experimentations have been conducted as the original inspirations.

This collection is called ‘Synthetic buffer’ which questions the role of our garments play in modern life. Does it play as a synthetic buffer between our natural body and artificial society? Experimentation through the fusing of saturated colors in different materials and pursue the recycled textile innovation is also a large part of the process.

Short film has been conducted as the original inspirations.
